2012 is shaping up to be a huge year for tattoos. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is out in theaters. Van Halen is back and set to drop a new single called “Tattoo.” And now you can get in on all the inked-up action as tattoos for your Xbox Live Avatar are now available in the Avatar Marketplace.

Several different tattoo styles are listed based on your Avatar’s gender, taste, and inclination for angering its parents, including full colorful sleeves and the classic “Mom” scroll with a heart underneath.

And since everybody knows no new tattoo would be complete without a basic white or black t-shirt— with or without sleeves— you’ll also get one complimentary with your Avatar tattoo purchase. In fact, once purchased, the tattoos are actually classified as "Tops" instead of "Accessories," meaning you can't display an Avatar tattoo with any other shirt besides the one it comes with. Which makes us wonder why Xbox just didn't re-name this the “I’m Attending/Performing at Ozzfest” collection.

And while it seems obvious to make a Zune Guy joke right now, we won't do that. We'll just say that among the choices possible on the Avatar Marketplace, there appears to be one glaring tattoo omission.
