Xbox Live Arcade analysis: the studs and duds of 2011

The astute industry-watchers at Gamasutra, who do an excellent job of compiling Xbox Live Arcade sales based on careful aggregation of online leaderboard statistics, have released their full report for 2011, and it contains some fascinating information. Among the highlights (for context: it can be generally stated that any Xbox Live Arcade title that breaks the six-figure sales barrier is considered a commercial success):
- Despite being released over three years ago, Castle Crashers continues to rack up huge sales. The Behemoth's 2008 co-op romp has sold over 2.6 million copies.
- 315k for Duke Nukem 3D...which could make it a better performer than Duke Nukem Forever (kidding!...but we might not be far off)
- Monkey Island: Special Edition sold a healthy 180k+ on XBLA, but the equally amazing Special Edition of Monkey Island 2 saw only 60,000 downloads. Go rectify the situation immediately.
- The unstoppable Trials HD is closing in on 2 million downloads.
- Critical darling Bastion has sold 200,000 copies.

I'm looking forward Trials Evolution! It kind of blows though that we have no idea when the game is coming out! Microsoft should have more information about XBLA release dates, not just for their promoted titles (Summer of Arcade, House Party).
