Xbox 360 sales strong in September, still #1 in 2011

In his excellent monthly sales-analysis column on Gamasutra, industry watcher Matt Matthews points out that not only did the Xbox 360 continue to lead the way in September over its competitors, topping both the PlayStation 3 and nearly doubling the sales of the Wii (amazing how the Wii's fortunes have turned in just a couple years, right? Then again, you could argue that the Wii's sales had nowhere to go BUT down, but that's another discussion...).
What's intriguing about Matthews' analysis is how he notes that, thanks to Kinect bundles increasing the sale price of the average Xbox 360 and a price cut decreasing the average PS3 sale, that the 360 is maintaining its #1 status despite costing an average of $35 more than a PS3.
Now do you see why it'd be a surprise (to us) if the next Xbox console shows up anytime soon? Be sure to check out the rest of Matthews' four-page Gamasutra article for more intelligent number-crunching.
