Once you get other Sour Patch Kids to follow you, you can fling them into switches (shown), or use them to grab far-away power-ups or kill enemies.World Gone Sour has a simple premise — its lead character, a Sour Patch Kid, is looking for someone to eat him. During this roughly five-hour quest, you’ll jump, swing, and smash your way through quirky locales (including a movie-theater garbage can) while buddying up with other Sour Patch Kids and taking down crazed candies.
It’s a formula that works pretty well for the most part — World Gone Sour’s distinct settings and breezy, tongue-in-cheek narration amply round out its easy platforming. The game’s main weak spot is its controls: pulling off double jumps or multiple jumps requires an oddly specific delay between button-taps, and if you don’t do it just right, you’ll either miss your jump or find yourself frenetically climbing air. This peculiarity is never enough to incite rage, but it can slow you down (thanks to repeated deaths) in the few gameplay segments that demand laser-precision.
Drop-in/drop-out couch co-op adds an extra level of value to this extremely affordable game; overall, World Gone Sour is a fairly satisfying, calorie-free way to get a Sour Patch fix.
