Will Command & Conquer: Alliances be the next C&C?

Publisher Electronic Arts has registered over a dozen domain names involving the title Command & Conquer: Alliances, prompting speculation that this will be the title of the unannounced next game in the venerable Command & Conquer series. The domain registrations also include Alliance-themed domains for the Red Alert, Generals, and Tiberium spinoff series. The timing of the domain registrations further indicates that Command & Conquer: Alliances may be the new game EA is set to announce during Spike TV's Video Game Awards, which airs December 10.
This rumor dovetails with another, which suggested that BioWare's next game would be an entry in one of EA's long-standing franchises (and revealed in an announcement at the Video Game Awards). Games in the main Command & Conquer series are traditionally real-time strategy, so a game developed by RPG-developer BioWare could indicate an impending change of genre or BioWare's first foray into RTS development. The EA studio currently in charge of the C&C franchise, Victory Games, is already rumored to be a division of EA BioWare.
