Warren Spector to win GDCA Lifetime Achievement award

Warren Spector has been named the recipient of the twelfth Game Developers Conference Association Lifetime Achievement Award. Spector was a key figure in the development of PC gaming at the turn of the century, working on groundbreaking titles like System Shock and Deus Ex. His most recent title was Epic Mickey, a video game reinvention of Mickey Mouse, for Nintendo Wii. A sequel to the game is rumored to be planned for release on Xbox 360 and other platforms next year.
Spector has also worked on a number of other groundbreaking PC games, including the Wing Commander and Ultima series. He joins a list of prior Lifetime Achievement honorees that includes Will Wright, Peter Molyneux, John Carmack, Hideo Kojima, and Sid Meier. The Lifetime Achievement aware is reserved for creators who've made an “indelible impact” on the games industry. The award will be given to Spector on March 7 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco during the 2012 Game Developers Conference.
