Off Topic: Felicia Day talks Odd Future appearance on Jimmy Fallon
Way back in February, unpredictable and divisive Los Angeles rap act Odd Future was rolling with a ton of buzz momentum heading into its first live TV performance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
You got the feeling something was going to go down on the show, but you weren’t sure exactly what. Maybe this had something to do with the group posting a cryptic note on its blog promoting its appearance, saying “Time To Scare White America.” It’s tough to say.
Either way, when we tuned in and saw Geek culture’s own Felicia Day as one of the guests for the show, well, we were honestly a little worried for her. As the final Fallon interview for the night, Day was about to be at ground zero for whatever Odd Future was about to unleash to close out the show.
It's tough to throw a clichéd expression like "star-making performance" at what unfolded (Odd Future was already well on its way), but the insane Fallon rendition of the song “Sandwiches” was all over the Internets the next day, with Day playing an impromptu guest vocalist at one point.
Since we had never heard her side of the story, we asked Day about it when she recently stopped by to talk her Dragon Age II: Mark of the Assassin DLC and web series, Dragon Age: Redemption. The DLC and web series both debut today.
