Tomb Raider E3 trailer shows off new gameplay
Square-Enix and Crystal Dynamics recently released a new trailer for the (also recently delayed to) March 5, 2013 return for Lara Croft in Tomb Raider — and within its running time, there's a lot of new gameplay and details to take in.
Though the video kicks off with a flashback to last year's Tomb Raider E3 preview that introduces us to Lara's new predicament on a mysterious island inhabited by none-too-friendly "natives," soon after new footage that shows our heroine escaping from a cave and flexing her survival skills. Included is her ability to use a bow and arrow to hunt deer — which she then guts after apologizing to the dead animal — and some glimpses of stealthier segments that has her sneaking around enemies sporting flashlights during a rainy evening portion.
More interesting though is her desperate escape from the clutches of a man trying to attack her near the end of the trailer. Wil this be gameplay or a scripted sequence? The final moments of the video do show off what's clearly player-controlled sequences wherein Lara shoots, shimmies, and dodges an onslaught of foes with weaponry and acrobatics. Color us thrilled. We'll have a full report from the E3 showfloor next week!
