Tomb Raider delayed to first quarter 2013

As if finding out BioShock Infinite, XCOM, and Darksiders II getting delayed wasn’t enough, now Crystal Dynamics and Eidos are pushing the release of the anticipated Tomb Raider reboot to early 2013.
Crystal Dynamics studio head Darrell Gallagher released a statement about the recent decision. “Our priority now is to make sure we fully deliver the very highest quality game,” he said. “In order to do this, we have decided to move the game’s release date by a few months, from Fall 2012 to the first quarter of 2013.” Gallagher also guaranteed the wait would be worth it.
Unlike BioShock Infinite, Tomb Raider will still be at this year’s E3, and Crystal released a teaser image of what they’re planning to show off at the June event. As you can see in the screenshot above, Lara will be forced to touch dead people in order to find items to help her survive in the wilderness. Gross.
As disappointing as it is to hear yet another of 2012’s big games is getting moved to 2013, we’ll gladly wait as long at it takes for someone to make a great Tomb Raider game. What do you think of the delay?
