Teaser video hints at MechAssault return
Developer Day 1 Studios, most recently known for their work on F.E.A.R. 3 but best remembered by die-hard Xbox fans as the creators of action-heavy MechWarrior spin-off MechAssault for the original Xbox, has posted a teaser video hinting at a new game. The video is titled "Storm Warning" and shows a futuristic battleground punctuated by the sound of laser-y gunfire and a giant robot foot stomping the ground. This is almost certainly a new MechAssault game, which would be the first for Xbox 360 and the first since 2004's lukewarm sequel, MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf.
We'll have more on the game -- be it a new MechAssault or (somehow) something else -- next month after its likely unveiling at Microsoft's upcoming Xbox 360 Spring Showcase event on March 1.

I was a big fan of the original Mechassault! The sequel let me down though. Actually, now that I think about it, this has been a disturbing trend for plenty of new Microsoft properties. I mean think about all of the games that showed promise only to be killed off by its sequel. This camp includes Crackdown, Blinx, MechAssault, Fuzion Frenzy, Kinect Sports, and to a lesser extent, Viva Piñata. Those are the ones I can remember liking but when the sequel came out, I am sure I was not the only one to lose interest in the franchise. The only ones to really survive the trend are Halo, Gears of War, and Fable. Maybe something to discuss in the next KOXM Podcast Ryan!
