In a new trailer, Square-Enix has revealed new features for upcoming game Final Fantasy XIII-2’s battle system. FFXIII-2 will revisit the Paradigm Shift battle system sued in the original FFXIII, but with added features including Instant Paradigm Shifts, QTE-like cinematic actions, and a new customization interface.

The trailer (shown above) doesn’t reveal any new tidbits about the upcoming game’s story, but does feature FFXIII hero Snow Villiers fighting alongside a playable Serah Farron and a new FFXIII-2 hero named Noel. The video also shows that returning FFXIII veterans like Snow are going to have very high HP when compared to newly playable characters like Serah and Noel, alluding to how they have prior experience as adventurers. Final Fantasy XIII-2 comes out for Xbox 360 in North America on January 31, 2012. Players of Final Fantasty XIII who import their savedata will receive an in-game bonus item.
