Skyrim has already been updated more than Oblivion and Fallout 3

While it’s true that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim launched with a load of glitches and bugs that caused plenty of issues for gamers, it’s also true that Bethesda has been trying their best to keep the updates coming. Just over a week ago, Bethesda updated Skyrim with patch 1.4, which gives the game almost as many updates as it’s had months on the shelf. Skyrim’s director Todd Howard spoke with Game Informer about the many updates the RPG has received it appears that Skyrim is the game has gotten the most post-launch attention from the developer.
“We already have more updates out for this than Fallout 3 and Oblivion in their lifetime,” Howard said. “So we’re really committed to fixing everything.” Fans will remember that both Oblivion and Fallout 3 had their own issues, which resulted in a healthy amount of updates as well. Howard claims Bethesda has actually learned a lot with Skyrim when it comes to issues that may spring up. “The main thing we did learn… we realized that no matter what we do internally, we have 10 million people playing the game and their saves are in all sorts of states,” he said. “Even if we test something to the nth degree, we’re still looking at this microcosm of everybody’s current live game.”
Patch 1.4 likely won’t be the final update Skyrim receives, but Bethesda seems to be on top of things in that regard. With so much attention being paid to making sure everyone is getting the best experience possible from the game, it’s hard to stay mad at them for releasing a game with so many issues to start with.
