Silicon Knights working on ‘most requested’ IP for next-gen
Though Silicon Knights hasn’t had the best success as of late, the developer is still working hard on titles for the next generation of consoles. In an interview with GamesIndustry, Silicon Knights founder Denis Dyack spoke about the company’s plans for the future. “We're really excited and we're working on our next generation stuff. We're working on an IP that's our most requested and we're really excited about that," Dyack said. “I'm really looking forward to a point in time when we can talk about it, it's just not today.”
While there are a few possibilities as to what the “most requested” title Dyack is referring to could be, recent events may help us eliminate some of the contenders. Crystal Dynamics is rumored to be working on a new Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver title. Though Silicon Knights didn’t develop that game, they did create Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen. It’s possible that they might be working on a Legacy of Kain game, but it’s highly unlikely they’d want to release a game with the same branding alongside another developer.
What’s more, Dyack has said Silicon Knights is open to returning to the Eternal Darkness franchise, and that the game has been “requested a lot by a lot of people.” Despite keeping his cards close to his vest, Dyack seems to be alluding to the return of the psychological action game. We’ll likely find out just what Silicon Knights has in store in the coming months, but for now, the hope that Eternal Darkness might one day return is going to have to be enough.
