Not very many games get two completely different launch trailers, but Halo 4 isn't your standard video game. As one of the year's most anticipated and desired titles, it only makes sense for 343 Industries and Microsoft to hype this game as much as possible.
The previous launch trailer, "Scanned," was created by David Fincher and Tim Miller in conjunction with 343. The mostly live-action short gave viewers an incredible and emotional glimpse into the man beneath the Spartan armor. As great as it was, it didn't really offer a whole lot in the way of what Halo 4 would actually look and play like. That's where this new trailer comes into play.
There's a little bit of story going on in this gameplay trailer, but we're actually treated to visuals of Chief exploring new locations and getting into a few skirmishes along the way. Judging by the footage, there will be no shortage of enemies to shoot, vehicles to drive, weapons to use, and set pieces to enjoy. Despite the trailer's short length, the variety of different gamplay scenarios shown off gives us a better idea of the size and scope of Halo 4, and doesn't really spoil much of the excitement that surely awaits.
Even though Halo 4 has already leaked, there's a great deal of people who have managed to avoid any and all spoilers about the sequel. It looks like that was the right decision, as this trailer gives us the impression there's going to be plenty of white-knuckled action and excitement waiting for us when Halo 4 finally arrives in November.
