Traveller’s Tales might be continuing their adaptation of popular nerd icons later this year if the latest reports are true. According to MCV, the developer will be releasing a Lego Lord of the Rings video game later this year. The news comes from advanced review copies of the Lego Lord of the Rings toys, which apparently feature logos for Traveller’s Tales and Warner Bros. on the box.
As if that wasn’t enough fuel for the speculation fire, Eurogamer found a listing for the rumored game on retailer ShopTo’s website. The listing has since been removed, but there is still Google cached version available. The listing points to an October 26 release for the game, which would give people plenty of time to play before The Hobbit arrives in theaters this Christmas.
Neither Traveller’s Tales nor Warner Bros. has confirmed anything as of yet, but we’ll be monitoring this situation closely in the coming weeks. If the rumors end up being true, we’ll now have an opportunity to play as Lego Legolas, which is just a fun name to say.
