Rumor: EA has big changes in store for Dragon Age and Dead Space

Though the Dead Space and Dragon Age properties are rather popular, neither game has had a third title in the series officially confirmed as of yet. Both Dead Space 2 and Dragon Age II arrived earlier this year, but that doesn’t mean the rampant speculation about what’s coming in each title’s respective third game hasn’t begun.
We’ve already heard unsubstantiated mutterings about the wheres and whens of Dead Space 3, but Kotaku has it on good authority that not only will Dead Space 3 be the last game to feature Isaac Clarke as the protagonist, but that EA wants to move the franchise into the first-person shooter realm. There’s also apparently talk of a Dead Space flight sim, which, in our humble opinion, makes little to no sense in the grand scheme of the franchise.
More insider EA info says that the next Dragon Age game, whether it’s a sequel or spin-off, will feature multiplayer. This mysterious game is being developed on the Frostbite 2 engine, and will reportedly allow people to fight as and play against dragons. Though the first two titles were decidedly single-player affairs, adding multiplayer to the third entry in a popular franchise is hardly a new concept for EA or BioWare.
We’re taken aback a bit by both of these rumors, but even more so by the Dead Space ideas. While these updates only rumors right now, we’ll be keeping tabs on further developments on both of these franchises.
