Rumor: Dead Rising 3 will be in California, deal with immigration
Yesterday, we reported about Capcom’s Facebook post that alluded to a potential new Dead Rising game. Today, Siliconera has a story on not just who’s starring in Dead Rising 3, but where it will take place, and a potential political message the game may be trying to get across. According to Siliconera, Dead Rising 3 will happen in the city of Los Perdidos, California, where an auto mechanic named Rick (pictured at right, images courtesy Siliconera) has to find a way out. The government has locked down Los Perdidos, but it will be up to the player to restore a broken down plane so that Rick can escape before the government blows the city up.
The site’s unnamed source also claims Dead Rising 3 will also deal with themes on illegal immigration. In Los Perdidos, there is a faction of “illegals,” who are the unregistered infected. Some of these infected people will be helpful, and others will turn out to be psychopaths. Though there is barely any subtlety there, it’s still a promising concept if it turns out to be true. It’s definitely an interesting spin on the zombie mythos that we haven’t really seen fully explored before, and it’ll be interesting to see if Capcom can do the message any justice. Hopefully we’ll find out more about this new Dead Rising game during this weekend’s VGAs.
