Rock Band Download Low-Down: Week 4
Each week we'll run out onto our website stage like roadies and review the latest Rock Band Downloadable Content. Check back every Friday!
*NOTE: All song packs are 440 Microsoft Points and individual songs are 160 Points unless otherwise noted.

WHAT ROCKS: Pick your instrument. It doesn’t matter, because The Clash’s classic “I Fought the Law” is one of the best post-release tracks for Rock Band yet. Its lyrics are catchy and croon-able for anyone (“I fought the law and the…law won!”), the drums have mixed pace and entertaining note patterns, and the guitar is equally awesome with a mid-range difficulty.
WHAT SUCKS: We hope you like repetition! It is, after all, something of a staple in punk — and it’s certainly the defining characteristic of this trio of songs. The cover of Buzzcocks’ “Ever Fallen in Love” is very reminiscent of Vagiant’s “Seven” in that both are defined primarily by fast, patterned strumming and drumming. Some may find that fun, but as a gameplay mechanic, we’re rather bored by it. Even The Ramones’ “Rockaway Beach” — a song we thought would be included on the disc after it showed up in pre-release screenshots from the game — is just an exercise in turbo strummin’.
FINAL VERDICT: This pack is the best reason yet to be thankful that Harmonix offers each song for individual download as well as in packs. “I Fought the Law” is a blast, but the other two tracks are duds. Snag The Clash on its own for 160 Points.

I was really surprised at how much I liked the Buzzcocks and Clash tunes. Both were a lot of fun to play. Defintely agree that "Fought The Law" is a blast to play. Can't say I blame them for switching out "Rockaway Beach" and "Blitzkreig Bop" - BB is a lot better known and about 10 times funner to play, honestly. Probably the weakest DLC track so far, in my opinion.

I disagree as well. I'm not a cover snob (have we forgotten that ALL of GH and GHII were covers and we had plenty fun with those!) Although the rhythms of the 3 songs can be repetitive, they are still a blast to SING and are fun "party" songs. Plus since it IS repetitive, it allows for more "showboating" with the controllers and doing funny faux-performance antics.

Well as red octane stated that most punk rock/emo songs are repetitive which is why they did not put to many in their games

Wow, I really disagree, I think all the songs are a blast! "Ever Fallen in Love" is extremely difficult on drums, and "Rockaway Beach" is so fun to sing. I guess people like different things, but I'd recommend this track pack to anyone.
