Rock Band Download Low-Down: Week 28

The Cars by The Cars (1978, 9 tracks total)
WHAT ROCKS: Guitarists shoud have a lot of fun with the excellent riffs here, particularly in the album's front half (or, as it was known upon release, it's "Side One"). "Good Times Roll," "Best Friend's Girl" (which you probably know), and "You're All I've Got Tonight" are the cream of the crop for the ax-handlers. Vocally, "Just What I Needed" (which you definitely know) is a highlight, "Don't Cha Stop" is the best bass offering, and the standout track on drums is "Bye Bye Love."
WHAT SUCKS: Drums! They're not awful, actually, but every song is guilty of three things: A) being incredibly easy; be sure to step up your difficulty level from where you usually play, B) being snoozingly uninspiring, and C) being eerily similar to many of the other songs on the album. Oh, and "I'm in Touch With Your World" is just horrible all around, regardless of which instrument you're on.
FINAL VERDICT: Like Rock Band's debut full-album download, Judas Priest's Screaming for Vengeance, The Cars' self-titled debut is weighted heavily in favor of singers and guitarists. Let's hope next month's scheduled album download, The Pixies' Doolittle, is a more well-rounded band experience.

amen eson! if your going for a whole metallica album, use master of puppets or their new album that should come out in september. anyway, the cars are a litte meh, hope some really good DLC eventually comes out.

Even more so than last months full album, there's just too much "meh" here in my opinion. The Cars are great, but would have been much better represented by a 6-pack with career highlights as opoosed to a full album (no "Let's Go"? Come on!). About half of the songs have decent charts but just aren't that interesting to listen to, and some of the better songs have charts that just aren't that fun to play! Great album, but horrible choice for a full album download, again in my opinion. By the way, am I the only person that somewhat enjoyed "I'm In Touch With Your World"? It was bizzare enough to get a kick out of. I hope this doesn't become a trend. When it comes to full album downloads I'm thinking they should be "all killer no filler" and reserved for albums like "Who's Next" or "OK Computer".

we need more meatallica! master of puppets, fight fire with fire, (i love that good ol' fashoned thrash metal insanity strumming.)and battery. and if guitarists want a treat then monsters and robots and enter the chicken by none other than the kfc headed one himself, buckethead!, tha would be the equivelant of buying a loaded candy store. (mommy, i want a hammer-on insanity pop.)

I actually really enjoyed "I'm In Touch With Your World". It had a unique sound that I found fun to listen to and play. Drums are indeed on the easy side of things, but, at least for me, the quality of the entire album made the lack of challenge on the drums take a backseat.
