Rock Band Download Low-Down: Week 24
Each week we’ll run out onto our website stage like roadies and review the latest Rock Band Downloadable Content. Check back every week! (And click here for all of our previous music DLC reviews.)
*NOTE: Each of the songs in this week’s selection costs 160 Microsoft Points ($2). They are available only as individual downloads.

"Zero" by Smashing Pumpkins
WHAT ROCKS: Like a match to Lake Erie, once you ignite "Zero," it never stops burning. From start to finish on any instrument, this one really cooks — and no single part is overly difficult. Guitar, bass, drums, and vocals all find a nice sweet spot of pure fun. And the spots to trigger your Overdrive energy are brilliant and organic — you'll know it when you get to them.
WHAT SUCKS: We got only one song off of "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness."
FINAL VERDICT: Keep 'em coming, Harmonix.

"Red Tandy" by The Mother Hips
WHAT ROCKS: One of the most challenging and keep-you-on-your-toes bass tracks in the entire game, "Red Tandy" gets wackier — and more fun — the further into it you get. Guitar is largely the same, albeit not quite as nutty. It's got a late-era Beatles kind of sound to it, too, which made for a good time on vocals as well.
WHAT SUCKS: When you think it's over, it keeps going for another three minutes. No joke. This beast is six minutes long.
FINAL VERDICT: Following "The Time We Had," which is included on the retail game disc, "Red Tandy" tops it by being unpredictably crazy in all the best ways possible.

"Time Sick Son of a Grizzly Bear" by The Mother Hips
WHAT ROCKS: It's catchy, we'll give it that. And again, both guitar and bass star. Singers will get a kick out of this one, too, thanks to its memorable chorus.
WHAT SUCKS: Drums are elementary. A bit too easy, in fact. Whatever difficulty you normally play on, bump it up one notch for this one.
FINAL VERDICT: Because the Hips are a relatively unknown quantity, we were inclined to write off this week as mostly a snoozer. But we're glad we tried the songs, because they proved us dead wrong.

I can't believe that both of The Mother Hips songs are 160 points each. That's a tad much for bands that are only in the game because they are tied to Harmonix employees, eh?

I'm surprised you didn't mention the drums in your Red Tandy review. Honestly, that is one of the most fun drum charts in the game.
