Rock Band Download Low-Down: Week 13
Each week we’ll run out onto our website stage like roadies and review the latest Rock Band Downloadable Content. Check back every week!
*NOTE: Each of the songs in this week’s selection costs 160 Microsoft Points ($2). They are also available as the (Arguably) Punk Pack 02 for 440 points.

"Teenage Lobotomy" by Ramones
WHAT ROCKS: The drums feel pleasantly hard, and what's not to like about the primal punk snarl of the Ramones? And if you're expecting traditional downstroke patterns, you'll be surprised to find that the best way to tackle this one is through alternating up and down.
WHAT SUCKS: The guitar is tricky, but it's not all that interesting to play.
FINAL VERDICT: Wow, another Ramones track. Maybe we're getting a little fatigued, because this is one of the more melodic songs by the band, but it just didn't fire us up the way we expected. We've heard worse, though.

"Complete Control" by the Clash
WHAT ROCKS: The guitar is a lot more fun and active than you'd expect for a punk song -- and the solo is downright musical! Bass was surprisingly interesting too. Not to underestimate The Clash, but punk is known for being forthright, and this track had hidden depth.
WHAT SUCKS: This time, it's the drums that are something of a snooze.
FINAL VERDICT: A surprise track choice but not a room-shaker.

"Truth Hits Everybody" by the Police
WHAT ROCKS: Punk? The Police? When you see these non-stop downstrums, you'll understand. But the aggressive nature slowly blooms into the fluid licks you'd expect from Andy Summers. The chord changes are melodic, too. The drums offer a tricky pattern that will have you working the whole kit.
WHAT SUCKS: What's boring on this one? The bass! At least each track in this pack lacks in a different area.
FINAL VERDICT: If you know them as the "Wrapped Around Your Finger" and 'King of Pain" band, then this chestnut from their raw early years will be a surprise..maybe an unwelcome one. Worth it for drummers looking for something new.

Yeah, I saw The Police live as well, and it was really one of the highlights of my (short) life. Thus, I will most likely buy most of their songs... which I have done, and I have enjoyed them all.

Ever since seeing The Police live in Toronto, I'm most likely going to download all the tracks from them, regardless of the quality! Ross

I didn't really care for this week's downloadable content, but I think Rock Band will redeem themselves with next week's release. www.thelocclan.com
