Rock Band Download Low-Down: Week 12
Each week we’ll run out onto our website stage like roadies and review the latest Rock Band Downloadable Content. Check back every week!
*NOTE: Each of the songs in this week’s selection costs 160 Microsoft Points ($2). They are only sold separately.

"We Care A Lot" by Faith No More
WHAT ROCKS: Um...uh...the guitar track is a decent challenge on Expert difficulty.
WHAT SUCKS: Everything else. Its sarcastic lyrics are out of context in the game space -- we understand -- but that doesn't change the fact that they're downright stupid to belt out with three friends in the room. "We care a lot...about Transformers 'cause they're more than meets the eye." Wow, seriously? Meanwhile, the bass line is mind-numbingly boring, while drummers will agree that this tune is easily the worst drum song in the game. Enjoy the boring and endless stomping of the bass pedal while mixing in the occasional red pad tap...not!
FINAL VERDICT: Definitely the worst drum song of the 111 in the game to-date, and probably one of the worst tracks overall.

"Calling Dr. Love" by KISS
WHAT ROCKS: You might be a bit bored by the guitar track until you get to the solo, at which point you'd better wake up! All three other parts fall squarely into the "decent but not memorable" category.
WHAT SUCKS: Nothing is truly a disaster, per se, but you'll be hard-pressed to recall any standout moments in the song once you're done playing it aside from the aforementioned guitar solo.
FINAL VERDICT: Bust out your favorite cliched adjectives: serviceable, workmanlike, average, etc.

"Roam" by The B-52s
WHAT ROCKS: Now this is good '80s material you'd probably never find in Guitar Hero! Catchy vocal track? Check! Catchy female vocal track? Check! Catchy female vocal track that everybody knows and is a blast at parties? Check, check, and check! As for the other band members, guitar and bass are both steady paced fun though on the easier side, while drums are fun but wildly different depending on which difficulty you choose: medium features compelling timing changes to keep you on your toes, while hard is strangely steady for most of the song. Interesting...
WHAT SUCKS: Though fun overall, nothing in particular stands out on either guitar part.
FINAL VERDICT: Absolute fun for everyone -- including girlfriends/wives. Bring on "Love Shack"!

If their going to put a faith no more song on there, at least let it have Mike Patton in it (the darkness!)

Hey Harmonix, how about some Guess Who's Cool Mother Nature and No Time. Both would be a blast to sing and to play all the instruments to. PLEASE!!!!

Insert foot here. My suggestion might be more hassle then it is worth. Proceed.

Dan, it's nice to have them all on separate webpages. But it would be kinda nice to have all the songs on one list with just their score. Maybe a link to their review page. Easier access then just flipping through a ton of webpages.

please give me: third eye blind-crystal baller, chili peppers-around the world, older incubus like dig or wish u were here or something, sublime-what i got(listen to the drums and guitar), smashing pumpkins- bullet with butterfly wings, white stripes- you don't know what love is, the eagles - life's been good i hear songs everyday that are so much better than 90% of the DLC they've been coming out with. although; don't get mad, i am not completely knocking them, as i have downloaded about 8 or so songs myself(which seem to be by far the best of the DLC and only ones worth paying for), but it seems as though the people down at harmonix can be putting out much better DLC than what they have been. march isn't looking good IMO. OXM thanks a lot for putting out these reviews they are a good help.

I agree. OXM would be doing a great service by creating one page we can keep checking every week with EVERY downloadable track (since the beginning of Rock Band downloads). Also, if they could add dates of when songs should be coming out. For example: if they get a heads up on what's to come next week or so. They put the month of March's songs in the magazine, why not continue it here? Hope it happens but either way, thanks OXM for doing what you've done so far.

Settle down Azarel, Boneweasel brings up a great point. This is great information but for those late to the Rock Band game or those late to finding these fine reviews being able to see all tracks by rating, by song title, by artist, etc. would be extremely valuable. The "by week" grouping really only applies to those who check every week and have been since release.

Boneweasel are you for real. You can see all three reviews on one screen without scrolling, (lazy @%#*&$) OXM thanks for the review, this is the first week that i didn't download on tuesday. And thanks for the 3 downloads on the disk.

"We Care A Lot" .... sounds like a reject care bears song. Sounds atrocious. I don't care a lot for it.
