Rhianna Pratchett announced as Tomb Raider writer

Square-Enix and Crystal Dynamics have announced that award-winning games writer Rhianna Pratchett is the head writer of the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot. Her prior works include EA DICE's Mirror's Edge and the Overlord series from Triumph Studios and Climax Group. She has won the Writers' Guild of Great Britian award for Best Video Game Script, and been nominated for the BAFTA Story and Character award. Crystal Dynamics says that Pratchett has been working on the Tomb Raider reboot since the game's earliest phases.
“I grew up playing Tomb Raider, uncovering the world’s secrets and unearthing its treasures; I have lived and died as Lara Croft, but nothing comes close to the challenge of re-writing her,” said Pratchett, in a press statement. “Seldom do we get the opportunity to reimagine and reinvent a legend, so getting my narrative hands on Miss Croft was a once-in-a-life-time opportunity. It was going back to the genesis of videogame action heroines and exploring how to make such an iconic character meaningful and relatable for gamers today.”
Pratchett will appear at the San Diego Comic Con on Saturday, July 14th, and participate in a pair of panels about the game. From 12 PM to 2 PM she will appear at Nerd Machine's offsite Nerd HQ at Block No. 16 Union & Spirits, to discuss the recreation of Tomb Raider in a panel moderated by Zachary Levi. From 6 PM to 7 PM she joins new voice of Lara Croft Camilla Luddington, creative director Noah Hughes, global brand director Karl Stewart, and narrative designer John Stafford at the Tomb Raider panel to be held in room 5AB and moderated by games journalist Geoff Keighley.
