Prince of Persia: <br>The Forgotten Sands
Let’s allay your fears right away: this brand-new chapter in the long-running Prince of Persia series is not an interactive tie-in to the upcoming beefcake-y Jake Gyllenhaal-riffic full-length flick based on the Prince of Persia games.

Wait…what? Confused? Don’t worry: so were we when The Forgotten Sands was announced. But one quick phone call to Ubisoft later, and we can confirm — there’s not a double-consonanted actor in sight for the Prince’s latest adventure on Xbox 360. Instead, this is the real deal — a sequel that finds itself perched somewhere in the PoP library between 2003’s dreamy Sands of Time and 2004’s hard-edged Warrior Within.

So where exactly does this leave our Prince-in-peril? If you’ve followed him on his journey from original Xbox to the 360 chapters, you’ll find that Forgotten Sands presents a clever mash-up of features and gameplay from all of them. This includes the multi-enemy combat that debuted in Warrior Within but went missing in 2008’s fantasy redux, Prince of Persia. You’ll also be able to wield different superpowers — everything from rewinding time to controlling different aspects of nature, like water and air. But the whys, whens, and hows of all of these abilities are still tightly sealed up in Ubisoft’s secret Persian lockbox.
What we do know is that, story-wise, Forgotten Sands is a direct follow-up to Sands of Time. Never played it? No worries: you don’t need to. Just know that the Prince finds himself embroiled in a kingdom-wide hot mess as he discovers that his bro’s royal palace has been invaded by enemy forces. And how does one dude fight a fleet of foes? By wielding what the game calls “the power of the Sand.” The ancient weapon that lets him bend time to his will in other PoP games will be his best resource for much booty-kicking.

And don’t forget that the Prince still has the mad acrobatic skills to put both Assassin’s Creed frontmen — Altair and Ezio — to shame. Swinging, shimmying, leaping, and possibly frolicking with a lady friend are all at his disposal within epic-scale environments humming with the clinking of enemy swords. But taking up arms and scaling walls on sprawling, bustling battlegrounds promises to be only part of Sands’ action. You’ll also be sprinting through plenty of other pretty, shimmy-able landscapes, such as giant palaces and fortresses. Will there be a love interest this time around?

Will Prince have a sidekick, as he did in the 2008 reboot? And how will boss fights play out? Give it time, Prince fans. With a May release poised to capitalize on the movie’s marketing buzz, Forgotten Sands will be here soon enough to answer all of your questions.

Sands of Time is probably my favorite game ever. I'm setting my expectations high Ubisoft, I hope you deliver.

High hopes for this one. I hope it's a little more straight forward....I got a little bit lost in the newest one. I still am actually. I have no idea how to get the racing achievements!!
