Orion: Prelude first-look preview

Watch your back, buddy!
Let’s be honest here. Most of us think dinosaurs are pretty sweet, but we’d probably all crap our pants if we saw one charging towards us with bloodlust in its eyes. As human beings, we’re pretty squishy and tasty-looking.
Fortunately for us, at some point we’ve invented jetpacks and huge guns to even the odds. This meeting of teeth and technology and of brawn and bullets forms the basis of Orion: Prelude. Human teams in this multiplayercentric shooter will take on hulking prehistoric opponents charging in from who knows where and fend them off using all the tools at their disposal. Pump enough bullets into anything and it’ll go down, regardless of how thick its scales are.

If that truck couldn't take him down, what makes you think your little rifle will do the trick?
If hair triggers and frag grenades aren’t really your thing, maybe fangs and huge, hulking feet are. That’s right, those beasts that you’ve been so worried about fending off are playable. Taking the role of the ancient horde, you’ll be able to choose a species and then take to the ground (or air) and rip your human enemies into bitesized pieces. Flipping trucks with the T-Rex, or simply grabbing humans and tossing them into the air are definitely effective means of breaking down those puny human defenses…and also tenderizing meat for some mid-fight snacks. Nutritious and delicious!
So, regardless of whether you prefer pure, animalistic strength or the technology that comes with having a highly evolved human brain, Orion: Prelude’s got you covered. The only thing up for debate is which side will come out on top. That part is up to you.
