Next Xbox will reportedly have HD touchscreen-traditional controller hybrid

A report from our UK sister publication Xbox World magazine (and reported on by our UK sister site CVG) states that the next Xbox's controller will include an HD touch-screen that also has the standard buttons found on the Xbox 360's controller. While the concept sounds similar to the Wii U's already-revealed controller (shown above), the architects at Microsoft are apparently looking to incporporate tablet technology to make a more compact piece of hardware similar to the PlayStation Vita handheld.
The controller's touch-screen will be one of the system's most vital parts, as it can serve as a remote control and internet browser for multimedia options, while also providing gameplay features like additional buttons or a portable display. Along with the controller, the Xbox World report also notes that the next Xbox will include augmented reality, directional sound, and an upgraded Kinect that can track finger movement, though the increase in tech will push the price to 400 British Pounds (just north of $600). Would you be willing to pay that much for the new features Xbox World is reporting?

I would prefer the controller to remain as it is, but the picture that i saw of it at leasts looks like it would mostly feel the same in your hands as the current controller. I hope the price ends up being cheaper than that, but I would probably find a way to get the money if I had too, I just may not be a day one or early adopter in that case.

I really hope this is not true. I love the xbox contoler as it is and there is just not way they can add a touch screen without someway changing the controllers size and/or weight! The xbox controller is by far the best controller of the three and it would be a shame to change that. I was really hoping that the external part of the controller would remain the same for the next xbox.

I am okay with it as long as the controller continues to be the best out of all the three consoles. So far, I have been a fan of every single one of the controllers they have produced (I still miss the ol' Duke).

Please dont jack up the price, i know that the price is one of few things that people buy xbox for, as games are 60 and live is 40-60, with wii games cheaper and the ps3 free online. I prefer the xbox as it is, if you need to release a new one just update the specs on it. I have to wonder if microsoft is dropping rumours to see the reaction they get.
