New WW2 shooter Enemy Front coming from creator of Black
Just when you thought it was safe, a developer goes ahead and announces a new first-person shooter that will take place during World War II. Normally, we’d be a bit apprehensive. Fighting Nazis has been done to death. There’s something more interesting about City Interactive’s just announced Enemy Front though. Not only will the game be running on CryEngine 3, but also Stuart Black, co-creator of the massively under-appreciated shooter Black, is directing the game’s development. Those two factors alone are enough to pique our interest in yet another WWII FPS.
Enemy Front will take place over several years across various fronts of the war, and according to City Interactive, will feature “a complex plot that explores the notable historical threads of WWII to include the events that occurred in the Wolf’s Lair and the activities that surrounded the deciphering of the Enigma code.” More importantly, CryEngine 3 will not only have the game’s Europe looking better than ever before, but it will also “allow diverse, fully destructible maps that reflect the damage from every bullet fired and every grenade tossed.”
The game's 2012 release date has not been revealed (we're guessing it'll be later in the year), but we’re already excited about the prospects Enemy Front presents. Check out the first four screens of the game in the gallery below!
