New trailer for I Am Alive reveals combat details
Recently announced as part of Xbox Live Arcade's upcoming XBLA House Party (starting on Februrary 15), Ubisoft's survival actioner I Am Alive went and got itself a new trailer showing off all the ways you'll be killing enemies in the game. A third-person action-adventure when you're roaming the aftermath of an apocalyptic catastrophe only known as "The Event," the minute you pull out a firearm or another weapon for combat, the perspective shifts to first-person.
In addition, the trailer shows that you'll have several different ways to approach various encounters with the occasionally batty/desperate/violent survivors among the modern-day ruins, including crossbows, knives, and guns. The most interesting bit teases the ability to placate potential marauding bandits (or worse) by waving your gun around. In the footage above, you'll see folks cowering and holding their hands up in a "no contest" move while you brandish your weapon in plain sight.
While Microsoft has yet to confirm where I Am Alive will fall in its XBLA House Party line-up — the event stretches from mid-February to March and no release slots have been confirmed as of yet since its reveal — it's safe to say that you'll be waving your gun in the air to preemptively terrify catastrophe survivors soon enough.
