New Retro City Rampage XBLA trailer has a thing for the '80s
Indie developer VBlank Entertainment released a new trailer for their upcoming, 8-bit–styled XBLA GTA-alike Retro City Rampage today, and we've got the footage to prove it.
Labeled as a open-world "parody" (according to VBlank) to yesteryear's top-down classics, RC Rampage will offer up 30-plus vehicles to jack in order to explore its massive environments. You'll glimpse everything from streets of Theftropolis City — teeming with pedestrian carnage and jokey store names (like a Duke Nukem reference in a billboard) — to rolling, green Zelda-like fields and more. Power-ups and the ability to dispatch enemies by jumping on their heads, the game will also feature a mission-based story mode in addition to its arcade-y open-world structure.
Retro City Rampage is slated to hit XBLA sometime this year, but the end of the trailer hints at an announcement due in 12 days on February 20. Could a release be closer than we think?
