New Halo mobile app, ATLAS, like Google Maps for multiplayer

343 Industries and Microsoft have announced they’re releasing a Halo app for gameplay. It’s called ATLAS and it’s basically going to track you and your team’s movements in matches in real-time for Halo: Reach and Halo: Anniversary. So if you’re wandering around a map not really sure where you and your buddies are, you’ll be able to check your phone and see. You’ll also be able to pan around and zoom in on the locations ala Google Maps. Which is kind of serious business, but so is Halo.
According to the announcement, ATALS will also offer:
• Weapon and vehicle spawn locations for Matchmaking and Firefight games.
• Health pack locations.
• Near-real-time locations for weapons and vehicles during Custom Multiplayer games.
• Your location and that of your team members displayed on the map.
• ‘Follow me’ mode to track your movement.
• Dynamic player list, including current score for the teams and each player and equipped weapon for you and your teammates.
There’s a whole Q&A about ATLAS over at Waypoint, but it's releasing on Saturday, Dec. 10, and it’s going to cost $4.99 on iOS and Android devices. If you’ve got a Windows 7 phone though, you'll be riding the free train.
Keep an eye out for more Halo news on the way, as 343 stated that tomorrow, Dec. 9, wil be the 343rd day of the year, and they have a few more surprises waiting.
In the meantime, click on some of the images below to see ATLAS in action, and head on over to Waypoint for more.
