New Double Fine adventure game to be KickStarter-funded project

The Double Fine team has reason to be happy; they're "kickstarting" a new project (har).
Was Minecraft creator Markus "Notch" Persson kidding when he said he'd help make Psychonauts 2 happen after Schafer said in an interview that no publisher would pony up the cash for a sequel to the studio's imaginative, critically acclaimed 2005 platformer?
Well, we don't know, but we do know that Schafer plans to make a "a classic point-and-click adventure utilizing modern touch technology" with a small team at Double Fine — and he's crowdsourcing the finances. Yes, Double Fine announced the Double Fine Adventure, a KickStarter initiative aimed at fully funding the game that "revisits Tim's design roots." A documentary chronicling the process will also dish out project updates on a monthly basis.
The reference to "touch technology" would seem to indicate iOS and Android devices, but Steam beta codes are promised to all contributors, thus indicating a PC version. And since the PC uses touch tech as much as the Xbox does (read: none), we're holding out hope that this could mean an Xbox Live Arcade/Kinect version could be in the offing as well.
As for Notch and Psychonauts 2? Schafer noted that "these things take time to figure out — if they can be figured out — so please don’t expect any Psychonauts 2 announcements any time soon." As always, we'll remain cautiously optimistic.
UPDATE: Double Fine Adventure has hit its original $400,000 goal and then some, doubling the amount within 16 hours. Could they possibly take in $1 million within 24 hours?
