Monsters vs. Aliens
Repetitious platforming may have cut the mustard back in the NES days, but today’s tech-savvy, multi-tasking kids won’t stand for it. And as modern gamers, neither will we. Monsters vs. Aliens offers six to eight hours of the exact same recycled gameplay segments — either as rollerblading Ginormica, maze-navigating Blob, or wall-climbing Missing Link. It’d be one thing if the action was actually good; unfortunately, it’s mostly mindless, artificially lengthened, QTE-filled platform sequences that follow the film’s story. And it’s hampered by annoying camera angles and controls that will frustrate players of any age. Worse, the interesting DVD-like extras (commentaries, concept art, and so on) are rendered joyless because they’re unlocked by playing through the same levels again. Argh!

+ Cool DVD-like extras...
- ...that you have to play through the same levels again to unlock.
- Enormously repetitive.
? Did we mention that it's repetitive?
