Monster Jam: Path of Destruction review
Our country may be divided, but there’s at least one thing we can all get behind: a monster truck barrel-rolling through the sky in slow motion while illuminated by flames. That’s what the arcade-y Monster Jam: Path of Destruction delivers.
You compete at various stadiums around the country on your way to the finals in Las Vegas. Events include circuit racing, time challenges, and our favorite, freestyle. Progressing through career mode earns points to unlock official trucks like Monster Mutt, venues, upgrades, and accessories.

Controlling the monstrosities can be challenging, especially landing specific tricks without tipping over — you get penalized for not recovering after a spill. There’s also an offline multiplayer mode where you can compete against a buddy in the game’s various challenges. True, Monster Jam isn’t much more than big trucks messing stuff up, but sometimes that’s all you need.
On Xbox 360
+ Mindless fun and plenty of tracks at a bargain price.
+ Red, white and blue dirt halfpipe.
- Gameplay not very deep.
? Why not just go way, way over the top?
