Modern Warfare 3 breaks Xbox Live and retail records

Another week, another batch of world records for Call of Duty to destroy. We already know that the game's launch day was the biggest media debut of all time, but Activision has revealed that Modern Warfare 3's five-day take was over $775 million, topping Black Ops' record of $650 million last year, which had previously beaten Modern Warfare 2's $550 million earnings. Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick put it best when he noted, "Call of Duty has become the first entertainment property in history to set five-day launch records for three consecutive years across all forms of entertainment," though we're pretty sure that wasn't a category being tracked until he said it.
One area of proficiency people have been keeping tabs on is online usage, and Modern Warfare 3 has handily snapped records in that category, too. Microsoft has confirmed that Modern Warfare 3 has broken the record for most online players in a single day with 3.3 million gamers engaging in the game's signature multiplayer. It should come as no surprise, then, that Major Nelson noted Modern Warfare 3 was the most-played online game in its first week, outranking last year's Black Ops to take the online crown (and given Battlefield 3's inability to move up, we're going to assume that the top spot won't change until the next Call of Duty game comes out).
Do you think any game will be able to topple Modern Warfare 3's online presence over the next year? If so, which one has the silver bullet?
