Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition sells 3 million copies

After breaking the first day sales records for XBLA and moving one million copies in its first week, Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has reached another new milestone. According to Minecraft's creator, Markus Persson, the XBLA version of the game has now surpassed 3 million copies sold.
"I got told Minecraft for XBLA passed three million sales today!" Persson tweeted early this morning. At $20 a pop, that's certainly no small change. Sure the $60 million in sales isn't all profit, but there are plenty of developers out there who would love for a single title to sell three million copies, let alone to rake in that much money in a little over three months.
While the game's outrageous initial sales pace has slowed a bit, the people at 4J Studios and Mojang are surely happy to see people are continuing to purchase the game well after its release. The continued support of 4J in getting the game updated, as well as adding in new content like skins, is certainly appreciated, and is likely a contributing factor in Minecraft being the second most-played game on Xbox Live.
