After the end of their previous publishing agreement last year, many speculated that 2K Sports would refrain from publishing a Major League Baseball game in 2013 due to diminishing returns from critics and retailers. Fortunately, there will be baseball on the Xbox in 2013, as 2K Sports has announced that Major League Baseball 2K13 ships on March 5, just in time for the opening rounds of the 2013 World Baseball Classic. The game's cover athlete (box art shown below) will be Cy Young Award winner David Price, of the Tampa Bay Rays. 

MLB 2K13 will also see the return of the “Perfect Game Challenge,” the $1 million contest open to MLB 2K players that manage to throw a perfect game. Last year's Perfect Game Challenge saw over 1 million attempts made and over 1000 perfect games registered with 2K Sports. The winner of last year's content was Christopher Gilmore, 21, who prevailed in an eight-person tournament held at the MLB FanCave in New York City.
