Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes coming to save the day this summer

Rumors about a potential sequel to Lego Batman have been circulating for the past few months, but today Warner Bros. confirmed what we all knew was inevitable. Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes will be coming out later this year, and will team everyone’s favorite billionaire vigilante with the likes of Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern. According to the press release sent out this morning, Lego Batman 2 will feature “all new areas of Gotham City utilizing a variety of vehicles including the Batmobile and Batwing. In addition, they’ll be able to fight for justice by mastering new gadgets and suits, such as Batman’s Power Suit and Robin's Hazard Cannon, and using all-new abilities including flight, super-breath and heat vision.” Oddly, there’s no mention of being able to create constructs with Green Lantern, which is the only thing he can do besides be awesome.
Players will be able to utilize those new abilities to take down familiar foes Lex Luthor and the Joker. Tom Stone, Managing Director of TT Games, said, “We’re offering fans a rich and expansive Gotham City environment filled with cool characters, great customization options and plenty of surprises that families, young gamers and DC Universe fans can enjoy together.” Hopefully the small handful of heroes listed is merely a glimpse of the playable characters in the game. Previous Lego games featured plenty of unlockable characters, and we can only hope that more prominent heroes like Apache Chief and Matter-Eater Lad make the final cut.

That would be SO awesome if TT Games snuck in a few lesser-known DC heroes along the lines of Animal Man, Firestorm, or Starman, or even someone goofy like (as you said) Apache Chief. Will be crossing my fingers!
