Kojima assures fans that a true MGS sequel is coming

Much fuss has been made recently about Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. The new title and development team were revealed at last weekend’s VGAs, and early this week, we found out that the original game was actually canceled. It’s actually still quite amazing that Rising is getting made when you consider all the adversity it has faced since its announcement at E3. For the Metal Gear series’ long time fans, the biggest change to Rising has to be the removal of the word “solid” from the title. Though Rising will still technically be a sequel (it will take place after MGS4), it’s more of a spin-off successor (like Joey was to Friends). But that doesn’t mean Kojima is done with Metal Gear Solid. Far from it, in fact.
Earlier reports indicated that Kojima had reluctantly accepted that he would have to make a Metal Gear Solid 5 eventually, but now Kojima seems a bit less burdened by the success of this single franchise. On his Twitter, the producer asked fans waiting for MGS5 to be patient. “For those of you desire for authentic stealth MGS, I want you to patiently wait for the sequel coming in future,” Kojima said. It’s clear that Kojima wants to focus his time and energy on Rising right now, but fans of the franchise should be happy to hear that there’s that much more of a chance for Metal Gear Solid 5 to happen.
