Inversion

If the movie Inception ever becomes a game, it’s pretty clear the developers should crib from Inversion. In our single-player demo, we didn’t hear any ominous foghorns or sassy comments by ponytailed actresses, but we did see a device that makes guys float.
In Inversion, you’re a city cop named Davis, traveling with a makeshift partner named Leo. It’s a typical day in the near future, but this time as you’re going about your usual donut-chomping routine, a wave of gun-toting guys come invading, complete with all sorts of crazy anti-gravity capabilities. You manage to acquire some of the invaders’ technology and use it against them, but all this gravity-tweaking begins messing with the local atmosphere, so pieces of it start changing. Also, your wife is dead and someone kidnapped your daughter. Gee, thanks guys!
The Gravlink gun, which plays a big part in the game, operates similarly to the leash in Bulletstorm: activate it and watch enemies hang in the air while you decide how best to dismantle them. Unlike Bulletstorm, however, airborne foes can fire back at you — and sometimes you’re the one with your feet off the ground.

Charging through the demo level, we find enemies walking on the sides of buildings and ceilings. Along with our Gravlink, we’ve got rifles and grenades to help our cause, which thankfully yields comforting bursts of bad-guy blood. At one point, we run into a Static Vector — an area where the gravity has been altered due to all the tinkering. We take a second to aim our grenade straight ahead, but the gravity over the Vector is pulling horizontally, so our projectile ends up hitting an enemy on the side of a nearby wall. Still counts!
The Gravlink will allow you to mess with other environmental elements as well, like lifting cover objects to unearth enemies or moving them to use as a shield for yourself. You’ll also be able to retrieve weapons that normally would be out of grasp, the way a Jedi would.
Along with single- and multiplayer, Inversion will also let you play the full campaign in co-op mode. So start looking for a Joseph Gordon-Levitt or Ellen Page to back you up — and get ready to dream big.
