The Classic Rock Pack contains three songs for 500 Microsoft Points. The tracks are not available for individual sale.
“Any Way You Want It” by Journey
WHAT ROCKS: Journey — and particularly guitarist Neal Schon — wins the award for underappreciated late '70s/early '80s hard rockers. It’s great to see them get some long overdue interactive credit. The bassline is in constant motion, full of melodic runs that keep you interested and challenged.
WHAT SUCKS: The guitar part doesn’t come really alive until the solo, and then it’s sawtooth patterns aplenty. Prepare for a series of brutal, demoralizing cascading runs at the higher difficulties.
“Juke Box Hero” by Foreigner
WHAT ROCKS: Also represented in Rock Band’s DLC collection, this Foreigner chestnut is surprisingly approachable. The song chugs along at a steady pace and the solo adds spice, but never boils over. If you’re looking to get 100% on Hard, this is it. However, kick this sucker up to Expert and you’ll endure a truly ridiculous string of hammer-ons.
WHAT SUCKS: That bass is simple too, bordering on uninteresting even at Expert.
“Peace of Mind” by Boston
WHAT ROCKS: This one’s all about chord shapes. The solo requires some quick moves, but the song is really about how quickly you can switch between two- and three-button chord forms. The minor trills won’t give good players too much trouble, but those chord changes will stomp you if you’re not ready — so you’ll have fun getting ready. On bass, this one’s a pure joy — another intensely melodic mover where you don’t feel like you’re just doubling the drum track
WHAT SUCKS: Where is Brad Delp’s soaring final note? Although it’s adapted from the master recording, for some reason, all the vocals from the original track don’t appear in this mix.
FINAL VERDICT: Remember that time you were heading back from the grocery store, and that song came on the radio, so cranked up the car stereo and didn’t realize you were shamelessly caterwauling at the top of your lungs at the stoplight, until you were suddenly aware that the girl in the car next to you was staring at you with a stunned look on her face, and how relieved you were when she suddenly smiled and flashed you the rock horns? Well, one of these songs was what was on the radio. It’s hard not to recommend three bonafide AOR anthems for the sheer rock joy of it.

I don't think I can talk myself into it. Songs are ok, but why spend more on them when they won't carry over to the inevitable GH4?

I was apprehensive to purchase this pack, but decided I would. Glad I did, the Boston and Journey tracks are pure joy for anyone that grew up as a teenager in the 80s (like me)!
