GTA V is a "bold new direction," says Rockstar

You’ve no doubt see the trailer for GTA V by now. No? Did you just wake up from a coma? Well before watching that trailer then, maybe you should tell your loved ones. But as soon as you’ve done that, ask the nurse for a laptop so you can check out a brief glimpse at what Rockstar has in store for their next Grand Theft Auto title. Now that you’ve caught up to the rest of the modern world, we can talk about what that trailer means, and what Rockstar’s intentions are with this fifth GTA proper. According to Rockstar, GTA V presents a "bold new direction" for the series trademark open world environments, storytelling, and mission structures. There will also be some big changes coming to the multiplayer, but details on that aspect are clearly coming much farther down the line. Rockstar North also claims that this Los Santos-based GTA is "the largest and most ambitious" title the developer has ever created.
Judging by the sheer amount of content jam-packed into that trailer, we’re inclined to agree with those statements. While there wasn’t any concrete evidence of the protagonist of the game, you definitely get a good look at what life is like on the west coast of Rockstar’s USA. There are undoubtedly a few of you out there who are tired of the GTA sandbox formula, but maybe this drastic change in the way Rockstar is approaching the game is just what the series needed to win you back over. We’re excited by the prospects such bold statements present, and look forward to finding out more about GTA V in the coming months. What do you think about Rockstar's claims? Does this game look like it’s more ambitious than everything they’ve done before?

"Bold new direction" is pretty vague. However, it makes no difference since this (like all the other GTAs since Vice City) will be a day-one purchase for me. The trailer looks amazing and I'm soooooo happy they're taking us back to San Andreas. Liberty City was fun, but I'm ready for some California sunshine again!Big question is: When, Rockstar? WHEN?

Right now claims are just claims. Until actually changes are announced its hard to get too exited about claims. I am still pumped about the game and how it looks. it reminds me of the Vice City look, which I wasted many a college hour playing. Top announcement for me? Co-op campaign.
