Gearbox details Gunzerker class in Borderlands 2

Borderlands 2 was revealed a while ago, but Gearbox has been rather mum on many details about the sequel since its unveiling. Though the developer had revealed a few tidbits of info during the year, we still didn’t know much about the character classes the new game would contain. Until today. In an interview with lead writer Anthony Burch and lead designer Jon Hemingway, IGN found out just what skills the new Gunzerker would bring to the table.
The Gunzerker is capable of dual wielding weapons, but only for a limited time. You’ll have to be selective about when to use the ability, but if you manage to have the right tools, you can really dole out some massive damage. Burch likes to utilize an electric machine gun and a flaming shotgun to tear down opponent’s shields, and then torch them with a powerful blast. The character will also have three skill trees: Brawn, Gun Lust, and Rampage. Each benefits a decidedly different style of play, but like the first game, you won’t be locked to a particular tree. Players can pick and choose whatever suits their particular needs.
Rampage features abilities that cause massive destruction like “Yippe Ki Yay,” which extends the duration of dual wielding for as long as you keep killing enemies. Brawn appears to be a tank like tree, where you learn skills like “Come at me, Bro,” which taunts enemies into focusing their attacks on you. The final tree, Gun Lust, is home to abilities like “No Kill Like Overkill,” which turns any excessive damage dealt to a dying enemy is converted into health for you. Though these are but a taste of what the class offers, the advantages are pretty clear.
Hopefully this is just the first of many updates on the highly-anticipated sequel. As we hear more Borderlands 2 info, we'll pass it your way.
