Today Ubisoft announced first details about the Far Cry 3 multiplayer beta, which will run for two weeks this summer on Xbox Live for owners ofGhost Recon: Future Soldier. Beta matches will permit sixteen players per match, with each player able to choose one of six classes for play in a variety of modes.

If you're a fan of modern shooters outside of the Call of Duty franchise, you'll want to check out the Xbox Live Marketplace deals over the next few weeks as Battlefield 3's Back to Karkand DLC goes on sale this week while Ubisoft puts its own action-shooter DLC on the front lines of frugality next week.

Multiplayer squad-based FPS Brink sold over 2.5 million copies worldwide, according to developer Splash Damage's CEO Paul Wedgewood. Brink's sales generated roughly $120 to $140 million in revenue, shared between Splash Damage and publisher Bethesda.
