Former Mirror's Edge, Battlefield devs announce artsy platformer
Straight out of Stockholm, the small indie development studio made up of former team members who've worked on Mirror's Edge, Battlefield, and Killzone (PlayStation 3) unveiled its newest project: a "platform action" game called Pid. The last title the team released was Capcom's Bionic Commando: Rearmed as members of now-defunct development studio GRIN in 2008.
Pid steps away from the running, gunning, and parkouring to tell the tale of a young boy who finds himself stranded on a remote planet filled with hostile robots. The game will work as a blend of puzzle-solving, platforming, and enemy-battling, as you'll eventually go head-to-head with the mechanical mastermind keeping you from returning to your home planet.
"It's our ambition to create an experience that has the elegant simplicity of old adventure games, wehre the most important ingredient is rhythm found not only in the relation between story and visuals, but also in the way the game plays," Might and Delight creative director Jakob Tuchten stated in a press release.
While the ink hasn't yet dried on which console "digital platforms" Pid will be appearing on, with the team's experience with XBLA we'd bet money it'll eventually end up on our 360s in 2012. Until then, we'll wonder why little bespectacled Pid wants to escape a world that's so confoundingly pretty and colorful. Oh, because those robots want to kill him? Well okay, then.
