Final Fantasy XIII-2 clocks in at "30-40 hours long"

According to the new issue of Japanese weekly Famitsu, the team behind Square Enix's upcoming Final Fantasy XIII-2 claim that the game's story is set to last players' 30-40 hours long to complete — which is roughly about the same length as FFXIII's critical path. But after your adventures with pink-haired Serah and time period-hopping Noel comes to a close, in the tradition of series games past, you'll be able to make a "clear save" which can be reloaded after finishing the game to root out any incomplete quests, etc. The save will pop you back into the game right before the final boss fight, conveniently enough.
The interview with Famitsu (as reported by Siliconera.com) also details the team's plans for post-release DLC that includes costume swaps for characters and optional boss battles, among other unannounced goodies. While Square hasn't confirmed which of these will be premium DLC or free downloads, the options on offer will span both types and continue to be released every other week through Spring 2012 (in Japan — North American DLC plans are not detailed in Famitsu). The game will also award those stalwart roleplayers with FFXIII save on their hard drives by giving them access to a unique in-game item in FFXIII-2.
