Soccer is a physical and strategic game, as much about earning your position as it is about dekeing a defender. FIFA 12 brings three major gameplay changes to make its virtual soccer game more like the real deal.
This year's physics engine allows for realistic collisions as players jockey for position. How do you slow Lionel Messi when he's about to blow past you to take a cross? Give a little tug on his jersey. Players slip, stumble, and bang against each other with astonishing realism.
Tactical defending brings in a new array of controls that allow you to play off the ball, to corral players into corners, and to call in teammates to assist. Defense in FIFA 12 is about closing down passing lanes and putting your opponent in poor position to attack the goal.

Finally, there's dribbling, which is now so precise, you can stand on the ball and spin in a circle if you want. You kind of want to, don't you?
Sadly, none of the featured modes has received equally drastic changes, but each has some nice upgrades. Online is most improved, with new match types, including 10-game season Online Friendlies.
Soccer or football or whatever you want to call it is the biggest sport in the world. And EA has done it justice with FIFA 12, improving virtually every aspect of last year's game.
+ New physics engine and defensive system change how the game is played.
+ Two different play-by-play commentating teams to choose from.
- Career Mode has no major upgrades.
