Fallout: New Vegas — Dead Money review
In the parched sands of New Vegas, the Sierra Madre casino beckons like a glistening oasis. And you’re the unlucky chump who falls for the radio signal coaxing all comers to seek its untold fortunes. Cue a lengthy, level cap–raising (by five!) tale of greed, betrayal, and horror.

An isolated toxic booneyville, the Madre is where the mysterious Elijah — who’s dragged you here — sends you in search of three cranky sidekicks. All of you share one thing in common: you’re tethered by explosive neck collars. Their stories are captivating and tricky, as is the ghost-riddled resort you’re navigating. Ammo- and supply-rationing are key to surviving, and the black-cloaked enemies here are scary and fast. It’s like New Vegas filtered through a Saw movie lens.
Expect moral dilemmas (do you screw over these lost souls or save them?), and clever gameplay tweaks include an equal emphasis on stealth and brawn. Glitches can sully the fun — and if you’ve finished the main game, you’re forced to load an earlier save (pre-endgame) — but Dead Money is still a grim, well-wrought challenge.

+ LEVEL CAP RAISED! Hallelujah!
- Some bugginess; recommended only for higher-level players.
? Is this the same Elijah from the Brotherhood of Steel? Quick, someone tell Veronica!
