Devil May Cry HD collection in early 2012
This certainly has been a year for HD collections. With Metal Gear Solid and Zone of the Enders compilations imminent on all consoles, and series like Sly Cooper, God of War, and Ico/Shadow of the Colossus being redone for the PlayStation 3, plenty of developers have realized that up-rezzed visuals, added Achievements,a smattering of bonus features, and a low price go a long way in triggering nostalgia. Capcom is the latest company to realize this, as they've planned a compilation of their prized franchise from the previous console generation in the form of the Devil May Cry HD Collection.
The Devil May Cry HD Collection will, as expected, package the first three Devil May Cry games (all of which were console-exclusive to PS2) into a single package. Besides having Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 2, and Devil May Cry 3 in one place, gamers will get the requisite HD upgrade, along with new Achievements. Capcom has promised that "Devil May Cry HD Collection offers players a wealth of new content for fans and newcomers alike," but the developer has not detailed said content. Hopefully it will be the kind that improves franchise black sheep Devil May Cry 2. As we ponder that, check out the comparison screens showing the original SD visuals of the trilogy as well as HD-upgraded screens. Three additional HD-only screens follow the comparison shots.
