Deal Dollars: Zombies and GTA
The next two weeks of marketplace deals have been posted on Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb's blog, with the next seven days dedicated to a handful of undead-themed discounts, and the following week centered on all things Grand Theft Auto. While just about everything on sale over the next two weeks is worthy of purchase, we realize that Xbox Live Gold users may not have $58 lying around to drop on digital deals. That's why we've rounded up the best price cuts for fans with differing preferences.
NOT FOR:

Given the sheer quantity of zombie games on the Xbox 360, there are many undead-themed games that won't have discounts applied. While some of the best games in the subgenre are represented, we would have liked to see Zombie Apocalypse, Zombie Wranglers, and Borderlands' The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned DLC. As for the next week, it would've been nice to have a discount on the Games on Demand version of GTA IV, which is a bit pricey at $30.
FOR QUALITY-SEEKERS:

Even though just about every game and DLC pack going on sale during the next two weeks was positively received upon initial release, each week has a single standout amongst critics. The Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare Collection includes the 87-averaging Undead Nightmare pack alongside (with two other good DLC packs to boot), while the top GTA addition is the Xbox original version of San Andreas. Both of Rockstars' top on-sale content managed to earn scores roughly five points higher than their closest competitors.
FOR THRIFTY 360 OWNERS:

Uniting the cast of the original title and the zombie-mauling team of Left 4 Dead 2, The Passing DLC means a sad day for all those without a pulse. The DLC is packed with an additional campaign and the highly entertaining "Mutations" mode this $3.50 (280 Microsoft Point) add-on is an absolute bargain for those looking to get their fiendish fix. You do, however, need a copy of Left 4 Dead 2 to play, so the best standalone deal is Dead Rising: Case West, which does not require the player to own any previously-released Dead Rising games. Provided you have GTAIV, The Lost and the Damned is the cheapest item next week at $5 (400 Microsoft Points). Again, Microsoft still has a quality standalone product on the cheap, as Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas can be had for just $10 (800 Microsoft Points)
THE ACHIEVEMENT SEEKER'S CHOICE:

Picking up where Dead Rising 2 left off, Case West adds some photographic competence with the inclusion of Frank West, the hero of the original. As long as you've got a buddy by your side this romp through the undead dominion shouldn't set you back more than a few hours and will hook you up with most of the game's easier achievements. While getting everything may take some patience, it's easy enough to pick up the points while you're laying down the dead.
GTA IV's The Lost and the Damned has some of the game's easiest achievements, most of them rewarded just for making it through the expansion. With only 5 achievements totaling the 250 total points, most of the DLC's rewards are rather generous. At the reduced price of 400 MS Points, The Lost and the Damned has a points to cost ratio that tops even the cheapest XBLA games. GTA IV owners who felt burned by the games difficult Achievements should give The Lost and the Damned some serious consideration.
FOR MEAT LOVERS:

While most of this week's deals will have you aiming firearms at hapless zombies, one of the games turns the table on the gaming trope. In Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse, you get to see how the other half lives, as you try convert the masses to join the shambling horde. With both hilarious gameplay mechanics and a ridiculous plot, this flesh look at the corpse-endowed genre is a putrid breath of stale air. is a reduced price of $10 (800 Microsoft Points) this week on the XBL Marketplace.
As for the next week, there's meat of a different sort on display in the $10 (800 Microsoft Point) The Lost and the Damned, but we have to warn you... it's the living kind (here's a SFW link).
