Dead World could be the sequel to Dead Island

Dead Island may not have lived up to the hype generated by its impressive debut trailer, but it was still an enjoyable and successful title. With a film adaptation in the works, it only makes sense that developer Techland would immediately start working on a follow-up to the zombie slay-a-thon. Though Techland hasn’t officially announced anything in the works, the developer is laying the groundwork for a possible sequel to Dead Island entitled Dead World.
Siliconera found that the Polish developers have filed a trademark for “Dead World” in the US. It’s certainly not an out and out confirmation that this is the title of a Dead Island sequel, but it definitely fits all the criteria. It has “Dead” in the title. It alludes to a larger scale than its predecessor. It was filed in the wake of a successful first game, which almost always leads to the development of a sequel. We’re probably a little ways off from getting any kind of official word on what this trademarked title actually means, but it sure would be sweet to see Dead Island’s concepts and gameplay blown up on a worldwide scale.
